Dissolution Kinetics of Western Deseret Phosphate Rocks, Abu Tartur with Hydrochloric Acid
نویسندگان
چکیده
The dissolution kinetics of the Abu-Tartur phosphate rock using dilute hydrochloric acid has been investigated. The influence of acid concentration, liquid/solid ratio, particle size and temperature was studied to explore the dissolution kinetics of phosphate rock. It was found that the leaching rate increases with increasing the acid concentration, liquid/solid ratio, temperature and decreases with increasing particle size of the phosphate rock. The kinetic data showed that the leaching process can be described by a shrinking-core model with apparent activation energy equals to 14.46kJ/mol. The low activation energy supported the findings that the phosphate ore leaching rate is controlled by the diffusion of reactants and leaching products through a porous ore. Based on this model and the experimental results, the dissolution rate can be expressed by the following semi-empirical equation;[1 − 3(1 − α) + 2(1 − α)]= 3 x 10C (L/ S) ro e 1448/ RT t. The experimental results was tested graphically and statically and found that the above model fits satisfactorily the experimental results.

Abstract The effect of mechanical activation using an attrition mill on the particle size of an ilmenite concentrate and its effect on the ability of the concentrate for Iron separation during hydrochloric acid leaching and the kinetics of the dissolution process have been investigated. It was observed that mechanical activation in an attritor significantly enhances the dissolution of iron ...
متن کاملEffect of Hydrochloric Acid on Leaching Behavior of Calcareous Phosphorites
The bulk of the world's phosphate reserves is located in sedimentary horizons that contain appreciable amounts of carbonate. During beneficiation of phosphate rocks, huge amounts of oversize phosphate rocks are rejected from crushers. This reject also mostly contains low tricalcium phosphate and high carbonate content. In this study, experiments have been carried out to reduce/eliminate car...
متن کاملSolubility Test in Some Phosphate Rocks and their Potential for Direct Application in Soil
There are various methods to evaluating phosphate rock for direct application. The first approach is solubility test of Phosphate Rocks (PR) using chemical extractant. In this study to compare the effectiveness of direct application of PRs, two samples of a sedimentary unbeneficiated PR from Lar mine of Yasooj and two samples of concentrated PR of Asfordi igneous PR of Yazd in Iran along with o...
